Re: ESXi 4.1u1, MPIO & Starwind slow startup/storage rescan

Wanted to give you a heads up...while MPIO works with Starwind and VMware in a single subnet, MPIO does NOT work with OS iSCSI Initiators like MS Windows or Linux, although the MPIO config does do RR, data only travels over the primary NIC.So we still need multiple subnets to perform MPIO from with...

Re: StarWind road map

One suggestion I have is... Say Node 2 is complete failure. As in replace the box or redo the physical disk scenario. It would be nice if you could start Node 2 from scratch...and "join" it with Node 1, and have it start automatically replicating the HA features without the need to recreat...

Re: StarWind iSCSI SAN V5.7 Build 20110524

Thanks for the comments. Can you expand on the performance improvements of 5.7?

As an aside, 23TB of targets in my mind is incredible. Can you describe your disk subsystem and network interfaces on that?

Re: Help me with configuration for starwind

In regards to the original poster, sounds like you are looking at the Supermicro 836E1. While Adaptec cards works fine, I would lean towards an LSI card since the backplane uses an LSI expander chip. I've had situations where my Adaptec card would not recognize any drives at all on the backplane...I...

Can you throw us a bone and tell us exactly what 5.7 has?

Re: Refresh target and application crashed

Wow! Thank you for taking care of this one :) I had that issue too. You aren't running the latest version. 1667 is the latest. They updated from 1659 sometime a week or two after posting 5.6 was available. Seems to have taken care/helped the issue, so just redownload and you should have the newer v...

Re: Possible issue with HA and target creation

Is this something that will be fixed in the future?

I guess I don't understand why you give the option of specifying an image, then allow you to create a "new" partner image and have it fail.

Possible issue with HA and target creation

HA setup with 5.6 Failover node is wiped out. The "partner" images don't exist. Recreate the targets. In the wizard, select the original "good" img file...thinking you can do a full-resycnc against an empty image on the partner... In the wizard, select the path and file name of w...

Re: Looking for some peer support (5.6 performance problem)

Your original thread inspired me to do some testing with Atto over the past few days. I had terrible read performance with 512 bytes. That led me to this article: http://sustainablesharepoint.wordpress.com/2010/03/10/best-practice-for-hyper-v-with-iscsi/ As for the results...this is before changing ...

Re: Need some help understanding IOmeter results.....

I think it might be beneficial if you guys (Starwind) would come up and make available standard .icv files for customer troubleshooting and general benchmarking comparison against other systems.

Re: StarWind iSCSI SAN V5.4 Build 20100621

How do you see "recover from full shutdown in a more graceful manner"? I mean what exactly you'd like us to add / fix / replace? We'll release journaling with V5.7 so it would be clear what node fall last and whose data is more up to date. Also sync process should not take that many resou...

Re: Problems with Primary Target shortly after upgrade to 5.6

No, just basically upgraded to 5.6. After the resync occurs on the first node is when it has problems.

I have however perhaps spotted something. Mooseracing...what nics you using and are you using any teaming?
