1-Node Multipath Confusion

Hi,

I've installed SW on a 2012R2 physical host as a iSCSI target für testing purposes. I've created a target (mutlipath enabled) and a device. The server has 2 NIC ports for iSCSI traffic each on a seperate subnet. The physical initiator host has it's own NICs too.

I added the target portals with both IPs of the SW server but I only get 1 target shown on the initiator host. Now I'm confused because I exepcted to get the device twice. iSCSI MPIO is activated on both hosts. Of course, I can connect the device but I will not get any multipath features enabled.

If I do not totally misunderstood the concept of 1-Node multipath whats the reason that I only get 1 target device shown?

Welcome to StarWind Forum. I believe there is a misunderstanding of some sort.
There is only one StarWind target which is available over 2 paths. It is expected to be listed as one target with an option to be accessed over 2 paths.

Ok thanks, I think I was a little bit confused because of the bevahiour of our 2-node active/active installations. I had to add the second path via the property menu of the active session.

You are right. Connecting the remote iSCSI target is to be done via all available dedicated iSCSI links.

Why sometimes the output takes abnormally longer time, versus sometimes takes normally shorter time?

Could you please be more specific about the output you are referring to?
