Hello,

I will be using a 2 node Starwind deployment as a general file server. Is there any advantages to creating a Windows file server and pointing it to the Starwind node to manage file sharing, etc or should I just manage with the Starwind web console. I have looked through documentation but it seems to be geared towards a SoFS which would be over kill for me.

Thank You,

MJF

Welcome to StarWind Forum.
SoFS is a way to go only if you plan a file share to store files, not the VM disks.
SoFS introduces a huge overhead that will be negatively affecting the performance. To build a cluster for virtualized workloads, check out this guide https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resour ... rver-2016/.

Thanks for the information!

I think I was over thinking the deployment.
