CHALLENGE

Before StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) deployment, the NAPM had a VMware environment demanding the creation of virtual machines (VMs) in fault tolerance (FT) and high availability (HA) modes. However, implementing these technologies was impossible without network storage. Buying a disk shelf would take too long, further complicating the situation.

The existing infrastructure was inadequate to meet the agency‘s requirements for 24x7x365 services, and the lack of suitable network storage rendered advanced VMware technologies unusable. The NAPM needed a robust solution to support its critical operations.

SOLUTION

StarWind VSAN enabled the NAPM to implement the necessary VMware technologies by providing the network storage required for FT and HA modes. This solution also offered advantages such as cache and load balancing, which enhanced the performance even with older HDD SATA 7200 RPM drives.

The deployment of StarWind VSAN transformed its infrastructure into a robust, reliable system that met all operational requirements and provided a scalable and efficient environment for future growth. The agency plans to continue using StarWind for its proven reliability.
