Hotels Unlimited enhances operational efficiency by establishing data availability and enabling resource scalability with StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Prior to deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), an infrastructure of Hotels Unlimited was based on Dell Servers and storage, running on
Hyper-V as the hypervisor. The primary issue with this setup was the lack of redundancy and the need to scale storage and compute resources separately. The absence of redundancy in its storage infrastructure meant that the company was vulnerable to data loss and costly downtime. As Hotels Unlimited continued to expand, it needed a solution that would not only provide high availability but also allow it to scale its storage and compute resources seamlessly.
StarWind allows us to use our hardware vendor of choice to provide highly available storage.

SOLUTION
StarWind VSAN allowed Hotels Unlimited to create redundant storage seamlessly integrated with its Hyper-V cluster. This redundancy ensured that even in the event of a hardware failure, data would remain accessible, and downtime would be minimized. The ability to scale storage and compute resources in tandem simplified its management and improved scalability. Hotels Unlimited is considering extending its usage of StarWind technology by exploring options to store backups in Azure. This move would further enhance its disaster recovery capabilities, leveraging StarWind’s flexibility and compatibility with cloud solutions.
