Allied Engineering & Services boosts business responsiveness by centralizing storage and improving compute utilization with StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Before StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) deployment, Allied Engineering & Services (Pvt.) relied on individual Direct-Attached Storage (DAS) for each server in its VMware vSphere environment. This setup led to decentralized storage, inefficient storage and compute utilization, and the inability to leverage advanced VMware features like High Availability (HA), Fault Tolerance (FT), and vMotion due to the lack of shared storage.
After exploring various storage solutions, the company chose StarWind VSAN for its user-friendly installation and management.
We tried other solutions and found the StarWind’s one easy to install and manage. Unlimited capacity license is also a very good feature. Resulting infrastructure has very good performance.

SOLUTION
StarWind VSAN addressed the company’s challenges by replicating the underlying storage of existing x86 servers and presenting it as shared iSCSI storage. This not only enhanced storage efficiency but also facilitated backup management and enabled it to utilize advanced VMware features. The resulting infrastructure, powered by StarWind VSAN, demonstrates excellent performance.
Allied Engineering & Services (Pvt.) is considering expanding its usage of StarWind in the future to further optimize its infrastructure.
