Scott County Hospital ensures a successful 24/7 operation of its Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system by deploying an HA storage cluster with StarWind vSAN

PUBLISHED/UPDATED: October 13th, 2022

With StarWind vSAN, we have been able to update one of the two hosts
without interruption to our EMR system. Considering what I see online and
the ease of use of StarWind, I have no reason to consider other solutions.

PROBLEM

Before StarWind Virtual SAN (vSAN) deployment, Scott County Hospital had its Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system housed on a Unix box via local direct storage and Hyper-V on top. Current IT infrastructure was not fault-tolerant, threatening critical data loss in the event of a host shutdown. So, the organization was looking for a shared storage solution to build a highly available IT environment.

SOLUTION

Using StarWind vSAN, Scott County Hospital could shut down its Hyper-V hosts and update them, all with its Windows-based EMR system staying up. By creating a failover cluster powered by StarWind vSAN, the organization keeps its data always highly available. Scott County Hospital was amazed by StarWind Support Team assisting network admins in vSAN configuration and clarifying all the questions around. The organization will use vSAN in additional clusters in the future to provide fault tolerance to its other systems.
