CHALLENGE
Before StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) deployment, Benny D’Angelo Transport operated 10 servers on 3 Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisors, all functioning as standalone units. An attempt to upgrade to a NAS solution using iSCSI with a QNAP NAS resulted in a subpar performance; the system was slow, and the NAS frequently crashed. These crashes caused all virtual machines (VMs) to go down simultaneously, leading to significant downtime and disruption in operations.
The lack of a robust failover mechanism left Benny D’Angelo Transport vulnerable to hardware failures and data loss. With little investment, we now have an IT structure with failover for hypervisors and data structure. VSAN is really fast and reliable. Couldn’t ask for more!

SOLUTION
Benny D’Angelo Transport chose StarWind VSAN due to its superior backup capabilities and robust failover features. The decision was driven by the need for a resilient solution where, in the event of a host crash, the other two hypervisors could seamlessly take over.
StarWind VSAN integrated the existing standalone servers into a fast, reliable fault-tolerant cluster. Post-deployment, the infrastructure became highly efficient, with no downtime even if one of the hypervisors failed. Benny D’Angelo Transport now enjoys a swift and stable IT environment, meeting all its operational requirements and exceeding expectations.
