CHALLENGE

Before StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) deployment, Kellstrom Defense Aerospace used clustered storage in a compute and storage separated scenario. Although initially set up in the right way, the IT infrastructure was badly documented that complicated its management enormously.

They had a number of drives no longer tied to servers, thus consuming valuable server space with no way to release it and redistribute it. Besides, the architecture was already aging, and keeping a cluster alive without issues took much time and effort.

StarWind got us off the clustered environment, which was a big help. So, I could regain control of my storage and reclaim and redistribute the space we desperately needed.
