Permolex Ltd. ensures uninterrupted production 24/7 by building a fault-tolerant IT environment around StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), Permolex Ltd. was operating a standalone server running Windows SBS 2008, which supported their 24/7 production environment. Users depended on continuous access to operational data and email services. However, the existing infrastructure posed a significant risk: any system downtime could compromise production data and disrupt operations.
The company sought a solution to create a fault- tolerant environment using Microsoft’s clustering technology but preferred shared storage over an expensive Storage Area Network (SAN).
StarWind allowed us to configure our storage locally on each server and in any configuration that suited us. Its software keeps both servers of the cluster in complete synchronization.

SOLUTION
Permolex Ltd. selected StarWind VSAN because it enabled them to configure storage locally on each server in any setup. StarWind VSAN ensured both servers in the cluster remained in synchronization, allowing Permolex to perform system updates and maintenance without disrupting production.
The company’s operations now run on virtual machines (VMs) and clusters, offering uninterrupted service. The system remains operational even when hardware, like NVMe drives, fails. With Cluster-Aware Updating, the infrastructure stays current without downtime, meeting Permolex Ltd.‘s requirement for uninterrupted operations.
