myCRE, Inc. enables stable business growth and avoids costly $30,000-$60,000 SAN expansions by adopting hyperconvergence with StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA)
CHALLENGE
Before implementing StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA), myCRE, Inc. operated a traditional VMware cluster with a physical SAN storage solution. However, this setup quickly revealed significant challenges related to cost, scalability, and performance. The proprietary nature of physical SANs limited hardware choices, increasing operational expenses and making expansion cumbersome and costly. Additionally, the VMware environment introduced licensing expenses that further drove up costs.
These factors made it clear that a more flexible, cost- effective, and high-performing solution was needed to ensure sustainable infrastructure growth.
The new setup powered by StarWind met all expectations and solved all the problems we had with our existing physical SAN limitations. Our plans are to continue to grow our StarWind’s array.

SOLUTION
To overcome these challenges, myCRE, Inc. adopted StarWind HCI Appliance, transitioning from VMware to Hyper-V and leveraging StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN). This shift eliminated reliance on vendor- locked SAN hardware, enabling the company to source SSDs independently and significantly cut storage costs – saving between $500 and $3,000 per disk.
StarWind HCI Appliance provided a hyperconverged infrastructure with distributed storage, ensuring high availability (HA) and improved performance while offering granular, cost-effective scalability. The new solution met all expectations, allowing myCRE, Inc. to expand its infrastructure efficiently without the financial and technical limitations of traditional SAN environments.
