Simplify Technology safeguards its business operations and eliminates downtime risks by creating a highly available infrastructure around StarWind Virtual SAN
CHALLENGE
Before StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) deployment, the client company of Simplify Technology had a single access switch and multiple standalone Hyper-V hosts, each with varying numbers of guest VMs. The key issue was the lack of redundancy and high availability. The company wanted to avoid the “Inverted Pyramid of Doom”, where multiple hosts in a cluster rely on a single NAS storage, which can fail and disrupt the entire infrastructure.
Simplify Technology evaluated various storage solutions, including VMware vSAN, but found them prohibitively expensive for its client company’s size.
StarWind was the most cost-effective, reliable solution we found based on independent research and feedback in several IT communities.

SOLUTION
StarWind VSAN offered Simplify Technology an affordable solution with ultra-fast enterprise SSD storage, eliminating single points of failure. The solution satisfied business continuity objectives at a reasonable cost, unlike other options.
The newly implemented infrastructure proved its worth shortly after deployment. When a lightning strike damaged one of the new 10G switches during the addition of UPS infrastructure, there was no downtime. Without StarWind VSAN, multiple systems would have been down, and the solution quickly paid for itself. Simplify Technology plans to continue using StarWind VSAN as its primary storage solution for SMB private cloud infrastructure with Hyper-V.
