CHALLENGE

Before deploying StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA), Westmoreland Mining relied on legacy SANs managed by VMware at its remote office/branch office (ROBO) locations. The aging, end–of–life infrastructure limited scalability and efficiency and was costly to upgrade.

So, the company needed to implement hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) technologies but faced budget constraints. Many HCI solutions on the market were prohibitively expensive and required additional hardware, such as costly storage switches, making them impractical for Westmoreland Mining’s needs.
