StarWind focuses on design and implementation of innovative hyperconverged and Software-Defined Storage solutions for deployment of completely virtualized infrastructures. For instance, we have enhanced the storage nodes that we use so that increase of performance does not require scaling compute. We also designed own Software-Defined Storage platform to improve the performance of our solutions. In this presentation, StarWind expert sheds light on our several outstanding products for enterprise storage: StarWind Virtual SAN, StarWind Cloud VTL for AWS and Veeam, and ProActive Support.
Virtual SAN is a high-performing multi-protocol Software-Defined Storage (SDS) platform that powers all StarWind offerings. Virtual SAN, unlike other existing SDS solutions, meets the demands of both small and large infrastructures. Our SDS offering combines enterprise features with DR, management, and hybrid cloud. In addition, the support of deduplication and compression provides outstanding performance for our SDS. Virtual SAN also is capable of cloud storage tiering, which enables to use storage more efficiently.
Importantly, our SDS is not only efficient but also fault-tolerant. The storage employs All-Active Fault Tolerance engine that is based on both data and cache synchronization. Having the cache synchronized enables to avert downtimes caused by nodes’ failures. Fault-tolerance is also achieved due to employment of grid architecture, which, in its turn, enables to expand both resiliency and capacity of Virtual SAN. The Grid Architecture enables to keep the system working even if more than half of nodes fails.
ProActive Support is another distinctive feature of StarWind. This type of assistance enables to prevent problems before they become severe enough to cause a failure. Furthermore, this service brings our customers the peace of mind because their environments are under the constant supervision of our professionals.
Eventually, it is necessary to discuss StarWind Cloud VTL. We view it as the perfect solution to accelerate the backup process so that it fits the backup window. Backup becomes faster because backup-connected jobs become parallel. Additionally, virtual tapes allow having their size customized. As a result, VTL uses the cloud space effectively. It should also be noted that virtual tapes are ransomware-protected since the harmful software perceives VTL files as physical tapes, which it cannot access by design. Lastly, tapes’ virtualization provides a universal way to access the stored data. This means that data can be retrieved in the future without any dedicated hardware.
Important notice: During the development process, the feature name was changed from StarWind ProActive Support to StarWind ProActive Premium Support. Please, take into consideration that the old name remained in the video materials.
