StarWind Software Releases Major Update to Unbreakable StarWind iSCSI Storage Solution

New StarWind 5.5 provides built-in heartbeat feature, fast synchronization option and improved performance

Burlington, Mass. – December 1, 2010 - StarWind Software Inc., a global leader in storage virtualization and a pioneer in iSCSI storage, today announced the release of StarWind 5.5, an iSCSI platform which turns any industry-standard x86 or x64 Windows server into a fail-safe, fault-tolerant storage device that will be continuously available even in the event of failure.

With this new release, StarWind is adding the new Heartbeat feature to its storage management software portfolio to guarantee synchronization channel stability by controlling synchronization channel loss situation without an additional network card being implemented. This new feature solves a single point of failure problem and prevents an isolation mode by choosing which node stays online serving the client’s requests and which node is alive but must stop serving until full recovery of synchronization channel. StarWind new version 5.5 key features include fast synchronization option for devices with write-back cache mode. This ensures that after restoring the state of one node failure, data synchronization will be performed much faster compared to the usual full synchronization mechanism. Thus recovery process will take less time than ever before.
